Our Winemaking
At Sandhill, we believe great wine starts in the vineyard. Our approach is simple: allow the natural fruit flavors to shine, using a light hand to craft wines that truly reflect their origin. From crisp whites and expressive reds to our innovative Small Lots program, each bottle tells the story of our region.
The Sandhill Approach
A winemaker’s role is not to overpower nature but to guide it. At Sandhill, we use a light hand, allowing the fruit to shine. The result? Elegant, expressive wines that reflect the best of BC’s vineyards.
Sandhill White Wines
Crafted with precision, our white wines undergo whole bunch pressing or gentle destemming based on the varietal. This preserves vibrant flavours while avoiding excess astringency.
Our Winemaker selects yeast carefully for a slow, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks—no malolactic fermentation, minimal oak—ensuring crisp, pure expressions of each vineyard.
Sandhill rosé Wines
At Sandhill Vineyards, we produce rosé wines following classic winemaking techniques: red grapes are crushed and pressed immediately, like a white wine. This technique enhances floral and tropical fruit notes, delivering a fresh, vibrant profile.
Fermented cool and slow, our rosés are crisp, elegant, and packed with bright fruit flavours.
Sandhill red wines
Our winemaker, Sydney, applies gentle techniques to extract rich colour, aroma, and flavour. Only the best gravity-drained pressings make it to oak barrels for aging, ensuring top-quality wines. Each vineyard block is kept separate, maintaining distinct character until final selection.
